1. To establish a Music Department in Kalagala, Uganda
Music is an integral part of Uganda's culture. Parades
and bands are present at every event and the students of
Kalagala want instruments to play. The idea is to provide
students with donated instruments and instruments bought
locally in Africa from funds we raise. This will enrich both
the school and the community in that everyone is welcome
to learn and use the instruments collected for the school.
• Create a music department for the Kalagala
High School
• Raise Funds to construct the music building and instrument storage area
• Collect musical instruments for the students and community
• Raise funds to purchase instruments locally
• Establish lesson plans for music courses in the high school curriculum
• Raise funds to provide a tool to record music created at the school.
2. To establish a
free Motorbike Repair Course in Kalagala, Uganda
The motorbike repair course will be for the students and members of the
community to learn a practical skill from which they will benefit. Motorbikes
are the main mode of transportation in Uganda yet they are very costly
to repair. This way the students and members of the community will be
able to repair their own motorbikes.
• To create a free
motorbike repair course for the students and community
of Kalagala
• Raise funds to construct a motorbike supply storage area as part of music
building
• Collect motorbike tool kits for the community to use
• Establish lesson plans for free community courses to teach motorbike
owners how to repair their own bikes
3. To establish a
computer literacy center and provide resources that help
students and the surrounding community excel in academic
and skill development.
• Establish lesson
plans for a computer course and teach basic computer skills
• Collect donated computers and a CDROM Library of educational materials
for students to use
• Setup the music recording tool for the music department
• Teach class on recording music with a computer

Is there currently a school?
Yes. The first part of the school was built with 65,000 bricks which
were all made by hand on site and used in the construction of the High
School. In 2002 four class rooms, a general office, and a staff room
were completed. Teaching and non-teaching staff were hired in January
2003.
Why is the education system considered
poor in Uganda?
Most Ugandan schools teach by the rote system which provides limited
quality high school education opportunities for its people. This education
system does not enable students to read, write, and think independently.
How is the Kalagala High School different?
The high school is different in that the students receive a well rounded
education that promotes an atmosphere of mutual respect for humanity,
amongst students, members of staff, and the community. It provides
an equal opportunity for boys and girls to excel in academic and skill
development.
Who runs Kalagala High School?
The school is run by the community of Kalagala. There is a board of governors.
These nine members are made up of six people from the community, two
Kalagala High School staff members, and one person from the district.
Who are the students that attend Kalagala
High School?
The students are from various communities in the area. There is a fee
to attend the school but most of the children and their parents are provided
with work opportunities in the community to pay the fees or else they
receive funding through bursaries and awards from various organizations.
Where does the money to run the school
come from?
The money comes from student fees and donations.
How does the community benefit?
The community is benefited greatly in that jobs are created for the community.
The community can use the school's facilities and especially once the
motorbike repair shop is built the community will be able to use the
shop. Learning is encouraged and once the Motorbike repair building
is made a course will be implemented for the community at large. There
are Community programs like pig raising and chicken raising.
How is the money going to be distributed?
Our goal is to raise $ 25 000. All the money will go directly to the
school. There are NO ADMINISTRATIVE costs.

When will the music school and motorbike
repair shop be built?
We will be doing this in steps as the money comes in.
What if we don't make the $25 000 dollar
goal?
The money collected will still go towards the building of the school.
Buildings can be built in increments so whatever money is donated will
still go to the building.
What if we make above and beyond the
$25 000 dollars?
Any extra money will be used for shipping costs, furniture for the school
and any other needs that arise. ALL MONEY DIRECTLY GOES TO THE SCHOOL.
Will a tax receipt be issued for my monetary
donation?
Yes.
